Tungtungan Talk Story Sessions is a language exchange program co-organized by UNITE HERE Local 5 and LAING Hawai’i. This program connects Ilokano language learners with native Ilokano speakers from the Local 5 Union in Hawai`i. Local 5 represents over 12,000 hospitality, healthcare, and food service workers in Hawai’i, many of whom have emigrated from the Philippines. Tungtungan Talk Story Sessions allows native Ilokano speakers to practice their English while helping Ilokano learners to improve their Ilokano skills and connect with their culture.
