Meet our first-ever scholarship recipients! We bel Meet our first-ever scholarship recipients! We believe that lifting up community leaders’ access to education will in turn help support the rest of the community! We recently opened a scholarship fund to attend Manang Angela’s Ninunong Gamot virtual Philippine Plant Medicine class. Introducing Maia Lisowski, one of two of our scholars. Both will be sharing back to the community what they learned in the class in upcoming offerings… For now, meet Maia!

Hello all, my name is Maia! I am an Intuitive Healer, Empath, Reiki master, Astrologer, Medicine Woman, and Bruja. I'm originally from Massachusetts where I spent most of my life until moving to Oahu in June 2018. My Mother is from the Phillipines and my Father has lived in MA his whole life. All together, I am Filipino, Indian, Polish, Armenian, and Syrian. Being a 1st generation Filipina (amongst my other ethnicities), I've battled with accepting my identity my whole life. As an adult, I have learned to embrace who I am. I have made it a part of my mission to celebrate and support my own ancestral background and help others feel the same. In my free time, I love surfing, hiking, having alone time, eating vegan food, being with loved ones, being spontaneous, making art/jewelry, watching movies, reading, and so much more. I am so grateful and inspired everyday for being able to connect with others on this Aina and in this community. I truly love what I do, and I want to help inspire others to do the same. Mahalo Nui and Salamat, sending abundance and love.
Agyamankami to everyone who joined our Cordillera Agyamankami to everyone who joined our Cordillera Day celebration with @hichrp! Today’s Philippine election results are disappointing and unsurprising, yet LAING is still committed to solidarity with Indigenous peoples across the Philippines, and we believe in the in defense of land & water globally. The continuation of the Marcos regime is in direct opposition to our beliefs.

Every Cordi Day we retell the story of the Chico River Dam, those who died defending and the People who continue to defend the mountains and rivers of the Cordillera.

As Ilokanos and students of our native languages, we say Never Again to Marcos! Standing with all our kabsat in the Philippines on this difficult day. #notomarcos

Kadaanan nga Agas: Reconnecting with Our Ancestral Medicine through Family Remedies and Food Dishes

Register today with link in bio.

This workshop is intended for Filipinx interested in building a relationship with their culture by exploring traditional folk medicine they grew up with but have forgotten or haven’t inquired family members about before. We will discuss the impact of colonialism and capitalism on traditional healing and health. We will also reflect and remember the remedies and foods we grew up with for health and medicine and find ways to reestablish and reconnect with our folk medicine that has been passed down in our families through the generations. Plantcestors from Manoa Heritage Center's Acopan Filipino Garden will "co-teach" the workshop.
